MARCHESI DI BAROLO
Marchesi di Barolo : a history of wine from over 200 years based in Barolo, where the Antiche Cantine of the Marchesi di Barolo , near the Castle of the Marquesses Falletti , have refined their wines in barrel since 1807.
The history of the cellar Marchesi di Barolo begins when Carlo Tancredi Falletti , marquis of Barolo, marries the noble woman in Paris Juliette Colbert of Maulévrier , great-grandson of the finance minister of the Sun King.
It was Juliette, in reality, who realized the great potential of the Barolo wine area that, after a long barrel fermentation, was able to express all the properties of the terroir and the native vine: the Nebbiolo .
With the death of Juliette the Falletti dynasty ends, and it is here that the history of the Marchesi di Barolo crosses with the Abbona family, still at the head of the cellar.
Pietro Abbona in fact bought the Opera Pia Barolo Estate Agency , previously built by Juliette in 1864, home of the ancient cellars of aging and vinification of Marchesi di Barolo.
Today, the family Abbona , carries on this tradition of over 2 centuries producing high quality wines and carrying on the tradition and heritage of Antiche Cantine of the Marchesi di Barolo
