Aligotè

Aligotè is a white berried grape from Bourgogne, France, in particular it is the second grape produced in the region after Chardonnay. This grape is traditionally defined as the "younger brother" of Chardonnay, because of its lower quality because of lower yields and lower resistance to aging in wood. For these reasons as well as for a simpler and less structured style of Chardonnay, Aligoté has been used in the past mainly as a blending grape. Recently however this grape, having a good acidity, has been revaluated and it has been used for the production of pure white wines as well as for the production of fine and territorial wines. Aligotè in the last years have been able to conquer a good part of the market thanks to the excellent quality/price ratio, offering the possibility to taste the authentic terroir of Bourgogne without having to spend a fortune! AOC Bourgogne Aligotè wines are characterized by a typical straw yellow color with greenish reflections. To the nose the bouquet offers hints of laurel leaves and hazelnut, as well as a mineral note. The taste is crisp and elegant, with citrus aromas and evident acidity.
