Brunello di Montalcino "Vigna Schiena d'Asino" 2004 Mastrojanni
Brunello Schiena d'Asino is the pride of Mastrojanni winery, one of the best interpretations of this appellation, whose grapes come from the vineyard of the same name of just one hectare. Only 3500 bottles per year are produced because of the huge selection of grapes, only the best bunches are brought to the winery and fermented.
In the vineyard are used only copper and sulfur, whereas in the cellar fermentations take place only thanks to indigenous yeasts, followed by 36 months of aging in Allier oak casks. After another period of one year in bottle, the wine is ready to be commercialized.
Brunello di Montalcino Schiena d'Asino has an elegant and refined garnet red color in the glass. Its bouquet is complex, ample and noble, hints of cherry, berries, Mediterranean scrub, sweet spices, coffee, tobacco, licorice, cinnamon and chocolate alternate in a kaleidoscope of aromas which never ends. In the mouth it is poignant with an amazing balance, robust and deep, fresh and savory with tannins firm but not invasive. Very long persistence, a wine that never ends.
A masterpiece.
