Bolgheri 2004 Ca' Marcanda Gaja
Bolgheri 2004 Ca' Marcanda is a fine Tuscan wine produced by the Gaja winery. It is a Supertuscan symbol of the company that the Piedmontese Angelo Gaja acquired in Tuscany, in the Bolgheri area, and in fact takes its name. It is made from a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, where the predominance of Merlot gives softness and ripe, mouth-watering fruit, while the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon provide structure and elegance.
The fermentation and separate maceration of the grapes takes place at a controlled temperature with final blending and ageing takes place for a period of 18 months in barriques, plus a further 12 months in the bottle.
Gaja's Bolgheri 2004 Cà Marcanda has an intense ruby red colour with a nose of aromas of red fruits and wild berries, against a background of spices such as incense and roasted coffee. The sip is structured but at the same time harmonious and balanced with silky and refined tannins.
