Ghemme 2013 Torraccia del Piantavigna
Ghemme 2013 is a red wine from Piedmont produced by Torraccia del Piantavigna winery. It is produced from Nebbiolo grapes with 10% of Vespolina, an autochthonous grape which gives a particular spicy taste which matches the elegance of Nebbiolo. The result is a refined mountain wine, which expresses less structure than the Nebbiolo of the Langhe but great freshness and offers floral notes of licorice, spices and berries.
The fermentation takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperature and maceration on the skins for 3 or 4 weeks. Subsequently the wine ages for 36 months in French oak barrels and completes the aging with 9 months in bottle before release. Ghemme 2013 shows a transparent ruby red color with garnet red reflections. The bouquet offers aromas of violet and rose petals, licorice and aromatic herbs, small red berries. The palate is medium-bodied, with elegant tannins, long and refreshing finish.
