AMIRAULT VIGNERONS LES CLOS DES QUARTERONS
The Loire wines of Amirault Vignerons Les Clos des Quarterons
For over 180 years, the Clos des Quarterons has been the home of the Amirault family. 180 years of stories, reflections, doubts and great joys. Almost two centuries during which six generations of vignerons interviewed the vineyards and guided the wines in respect of the work of their predecessors, always in constant search of absolute quality.>
Today, on about thirty hectares, we open the doors of the Clos on the path of a family history in which everyone leaves their mark and their know-how to the future generation.
The municipality of Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil is located on the borders of Anjou and Touraine. About a third of the territory, or 1050 hectares, is occupied by beautiful vineyards.
Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil welcomes 1250 inhabitants (Nicolaisiens and Nicolaisiennes) including about a hundred winemakers. In our village, the Cabernet Franc grape (locally called "Breton") has reigned supreme since 1850 after having appeared in 1152, thanks to the political union of Angiu'e Aquitaine.
The wines of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil benefit from a protected designation of origin. The municipality is the only production area. The vineyard is protected to the north by a forest that shelters it from cold winds.
The exposure is to the south, and the slope allows a perfect drainage of rain.
We find a soil composed of floods and gravel, limestone and silica clay. Finally, the vines planted on the first terrace benefit from a soil of sand and gravel on a clay bottom.
The microclimate in the area is fortunate and this makes it so that all the terror is perfect to obtain high quality wines.
We invite you to discover the wines of Clos des Quarterons that are born from a philosophy common to the whole group: biodynamic viticulture.
