Schiopetto "Il Mario" 2017 is a white wine from Friuli Venezia Giulia produced by Mario Schiopetto. This bottle, dedicated to the founder of the winery, is its flagship, made from Friulano grapes plus a small percentage of Riesling. The Friulano, the main autochthonous vine of the region, comes from vineyards planted by the Curia of Gorizia in 1954, together with a small part of Riesling from plants exposed on the southern side of the property. It matures in stainless steel tanks for six months plus a minimum of 9 months' refinement in the bottle. Schiopetto "Il Mario" is the perfect synthesis between the typical character of Friulano and the aromatic and mineral qualities of Riesling for a strongly expressive white wine of great quality. Intense straw yellow in colour with golden highlights, it expresses on the nose a delicate and elegant bouquet composed of aromas of ripe fruit followed by sweet sensations of almond and custard. The taste is refined, well balanced between structure and warmth and a pleasant minerality, with hints of fruity notes, pear and quince above all, persistent.
