Barolo 2013 Scarzello
Barolo 2013 of the Scarzello winery is an intense and elegant Piedmontese red wine, with a complex and intriguing nose. It is produced with Nebbiolo grapes grown exclusively in the commune of Barolo, in the Piedmontese Langhe. The vineyards, in the Cru Sarmassa and Terlo, are cultivated with the traditional Guyot method at an altitude of 350 meters. The winery is traditional and family-run, managed today by Federico Scarzello.
The Scarzello Barolo is produced with selected grapes and harvested by hand. Once in the cellar they are destemmed and pressed to carry out the alcoholic fermentation, which takes place in steel at controlled temperature with a long maceration on the skins of almost 50 days. The refinement of Barolo wine, as per tradition, takes place in large oak barrels for 24 months before completing the production cycle with another 24 months in bottle.
The Barolo produced by the Scarzello winery is garnet red in color, the nose has ripe fruit, floral notes of rose and carnation, spices and balsamic hints. In the mouth the wine is structured and explosive, with a nice fine tannin accompanied by a pleasant freshness. Barolo Scarzello is undoubtedly an elegant wine, obtained with traditional and artisan methods, just as tradition dictates.
