Barolo "Otin Fiorin - Pié Franco" 2014 Cappellano
Cappellano's Barolo Pié Franco is one of Piedmont's most important wines, a bottle sought after by enthusiasts around the world. It is a Barolo of traditional style, made with artisanal methods without the use of chemicals. Grapes come from the Gabutti cru, in Serralunga d'Alba, from vines more than 30 years old, cultivated with "pié franco", that is without grafting on American feet, as it was done in the pre-phylloxera era. Cappellano winery carries on the old tradition of Langa giving us an authentic, elegant and perfect wine, a unique and rare bottle, produced in a very limited edition.
The vines from which Pié Franco Cappellano is produced are cultivated according to the dictates of organic farming, neither herbicides nor chemical products are used in full respect of nature and of the magnificent territory of Piedmontese Langhe. In the cellar the alcoholic fermentation takes place in contact with skins in a spontaneous way with indigenous yeasts followed by an aging of 18 months in large casks.
Barolo Pié Franco shows in the glass a beautiful and elegant ruby red color with the typical garnet red reflections of Barolo, to the nose we have an intense and complex aromatic profile, every time the nose gets closer to the glass the notes are different, from the elegant hints of cherry and plum to the elegant floral notes to find oneself surrounded by tertiary aromas of licorice, chocolate, black pepper, leather and tobacco. In the mouth it is immediately perceived to be a great Barolo, the taste is full bodied, the tannins are present but not disturbing, accompanied by an amazing crispness even after so many years.
An immense wine which, like few others, perfectly represents the Langhe and the Cappellano family's tradition.
