Barolo 2003 Monti Paolo Edizione Speciale
Barolo Monti 2003 is a fine wine produced in one of the most interesting areas of Piedmont, Monforte d'Alba, from the Bussia area at 380 msl.
The Monti winery has always focused on the excellence of their wines from the work in the vineyard where the harvest is manual and where you prefer to reduce the yield to have a better quality of grapes, to the cellar. Maceration on the skins for 10 days is followed by one year's ageing between new and old French oak barriques. At the beginning of the second year the wine is blended and completes the ageing in oak barrels for another 18 months.
Barolo Monti has an intense garnet colour, with orange reflections accentuated by the 16 years of this bottle. The nose is elegant permeated by ethereal hints, small berries, chocolate and mineral notes. In the mouth resumes the nose with a persistent hint of licorice.
It certainly takes time to oxygenate it ensuring an adequate opening of the bouquet. The wine is harmonious and persistent, and still maintains a good dose of acidity, a product worthy of its terroir and the great work of the company.
