Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva 2009 Massolino
Barolo Vigna Rionda is a fine Piedmontese wine from the Massolino winery, one of the most representative of the Serralunga d'Alba area. In fact, the Nebbiolo grapes come from the renowned Vigna Rionda cru, with its unique microclimate and position, protecting the Castelletto hill from the cold north-west winds and providing good exposure to the summer heat.
These conditions make it possible to produce austere and powerful wines, endowed with incredible aromatic complexity and great ageing potential, so much so that they take a long time to mature in wood and in the bottle, even compared to other Barolo wines from neighbouring areas, from at least five to ten years. The Massolino family, who have owned a wonderful central portion of Vigna Rionda for generations, have made Barolo their flagship wine, so much so that they have included it in their company name, raising it to the highest symbol of their production.
Intense garnet red in colour, it expresses a broad and complex bouquet of flowers such as wilted roses, spices, coffee, strawberries and liquorice, for a deep sip of great structure and incredible persistence. To have the good fortune to taste Massolino's Barolo Vigna Rionda is to experience one of the greatest interpretations of this wine and the area.
