Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille 2004 Gaja
Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille 2004 is a fine wine produced by the Gaja winery. It is a great interpretation of a company that has gained worldwide recognition for the value and quality of its wines. The grapes come from a single vineyard "Sugarille" of such ancient origins that it appears for the first time in the inventory of the properties of Pieve Santa Restituta in 1547.
The name derives from the Latin word "suber" meaning "cork oak", probably because they were very common at that time. The soil here is predominantly clayey-calcareous with the presence of marl, poor soil but with excellent drainage, south-western exposure and the influence of the Tyrrhenian Sea, all of which create the ideal conditions for producing great quality wines. The grapes that make up this bottle come from vines more than twenty-five years old, the vinification takes about three weeks, while the refinement takes place for a period of 18 months in barriques and for another ten months in large traditional barrels.
The Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille 2004 shows a luminous ruby red colour, while the nose offers clear and intense aromas of berries and flowers against a background of spices. The taste is balanced, structured with silky tannins and well blended with the body of the wine, which conquers with its elegance and longevity.
