Cotes de Provence Rouge "Les Mures" 2019 Chateau Roquefort
Cotes de Provence Rouge Les Mures 2019 is a French red wine produced by Chateau Roquefort. It is made from a blend of red grapes typical of the Provence region, where the largest percentage is Grenache grapes, alongside which we find smaller parts of Carignan, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Cabernet Sauvignon. All these varieties come from vines that are about 45 years old and come from soils composed of a clay and limestone subsoil and an altitude of 400 metres above sea level.
Maceration takes place in contact with the skins for five weeks, while fermentation is started, completely spontaneous with indigenous yeasts in open cement vats. Twenty per cent of the total mass of the wine is matured on the fine lees and the remaining 80 per cent is transferred to mature in 40 hectolitre barrels for 11 months.
The Cotes de Provence Rouge "Les Mures" of Chateau de Roquefort shows a fascinating bright ruby red colour in the glass. On the nose it expresses an intense and complex bouquet of berries, spices and other tertiary scents deriving from the ageing in wood. The taste is rich and well balanced between freshness and softness, with a remarkable persistence.
