DOMAINE DE LA RENARDIERE
Sustainability, nature and territory: these are the key points that have marked the activity of Jean Michel Petit since the winery was founded in 1990, a unique character with a great personality, endowed with inexhaustible energy and an extraordinary mind. He is the owner of the Domaine de la Renardiere, one of the most symbolic realities within the small region of Jura, considered today as a real reference point in the world of artisanal wines beyond the Alps.
Jean Mi has an American background; as a young man he learned and studied oenological techniques in some important companies in California. In 1990 he returned home, in his Jura, and with his partner Laurence they said to found the winery, starting from some vineyards owned by the family of Petit.
Today the Domaine de la Renardiere winery has a vineyard area of 7.5 hectares located in the Jura hills. Jean Michel loves his territory and knows perfectly the history and composition of each soil; he knows in detail what the blue marl of the Lias can give to the wine, what shades the red marl gives and which grape variety is best suited to grow on the grey marl. A true ambassador of the territory, who has concentrated all his efforts on the local vines: Savagnin (the white grape known for its oxidative style), Ploussard (the autochthonous red par excellence of the area) and Chardonnay (which has thrived in these lands for centuries). 60% of the varieties cultivated are white grapes, while the remainder are red grapes; all grown with certified organic farming.
Domaine de la Renardiere wines have a typical territorial style. They are fresh and rich, taut, vital and endowed with that unmistakable and marked mineral note that characterizes the wines of this area. Whites, reds, cremants and oxidative expressions that love nature and portray all its nuances and frames. Original and unique, just like its producer!
