Promis 2006 Ca' Marcanda - Gaja
Promis Ca' Marcanda is the result of Angelo Gaja's desire to tell the story of Bolgheri's terroir, after having made the history of Barbaresco in Piedmont, he decided to put himself to the test by replicating the enterprise in Tuscany. Gaja's Promis comes from a blend of international grapes (55% Merlot, 35% Syrah) with the autochthonous Sangiovese (10%), the symbolic vine of Tuscany.
The best bunches of grapes are selected in the vineyard, while in the cellar spontaneous and non-invasive processes are favored, respecting the times of nature. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine rests for 18 months in French oak barriques, where it matures slowly in order to reach the best taste-olfactory maturity.
Promis, when young, shows a beautiful deep ruby red color, acquiring over the years beautiful orange nuances. The nose is intense and complex with notes of ripe red fruits, spices and toasted hints. In the mouth is warm and full bodied, with a good crispness and a silky tannic texture to balance the palate. The finish is long and persistent. A wine with great longevity.
