Barbaresco Camp Gros Martinenga Marchesi di Gresy 2006
The Barbaresco Camp Gros is the spearhead of the Marchesi di Gresy winery, one of Piedmont's most historic and prestigious wineries. It is a first level, complex and structured Italian red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes.
Barbaresco "Camp Gros" Marchesi di Gresy is considered the excellence of the winery and for this reason it is produced only in the best vintages and only since 1978, the grapes, 100% Nebbiolo, come from a small portion of the Martinenga vineyard, the most suitable one that stands right next to the Rabaja cru: Camp Gros, 280 meters above sea level in the town of Barbaresco with southern exposure.
This Barbaresco Riserva Camp Gros is vinified in red wine with maceration in emerged cap for 10 days and another 10 days in submerged cap, after alcoholic and malolactic fermentation it is matured first in barriques and then in large casks, before another 15 months in bottle.
The Marchesi di Grasy Barbaresco Camp Gros is like all great Piedmontese wines with a very long life, able to evolve for decades before being uncorked. It is a garnet red wine, with a complex and intense nose, it releases notes of underbrush, red fruits, spices and balsamic herbs. In the mouth it is austere but elegant with delicate tannins. It goes well with game and mature cheeses.
