Barbera d'Alba 2019 Burlotto
Barbera d'Alba 2019 is a fine wine from Piedmont produced by Burlotto. Made from 100% Barbera grapes, it is a red wine with a distinctive profile: nice acidity and a pleasant aromatic bouquet. The vinification process involves a fermentation-maceration of about 10 days at controlled temperature in French oak vats, with daily pumping over and punching down. After malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matures for about eight months in 35-50 hectolitre Slavonian and Allier oak casks. After bottling, which usually takes place in August, the wine is left to age in the cellar for a few months. The wine ferments for 12 months in 5-hectolitre barrels and then matures in casks for 12 months. Bright ruby red in colour, Burlotto's Barbera d'Alba expresses on the nose an intense bouquet of cherry, plum, berries with notes of vanilla and liquorice. In the mouth it is deep, austere, of balanced freshness and persistent.
