Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2011 Vietti
Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2011 is a fine Piedmontese red wine produced by Vietti. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from 47-year-old vines facing south-east, from one of the historic Barolo vineyards, Rocche di Castiglione Falletto, with an area of 1.3 hectares.
The must remains about 1 month in steel vats in contact with the skins, of which 4 months of pre-fermentative cold maceration and 24 months of fermentation and post-fermentative maceration at a controlled temperature with daily pumping over using the traditional "submerged cap" system. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in barriques, while the wine is aged in oak barrels for 31 months.
Ruby red in colour, Vietti's Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2011 offers a complex bouquet of intense aromas of dried roses, liquorice, spices and truffles. The taste is full and elegant, with strong but balanced tannins.
