Brunello di Montalcino 2016 Castello Romitorio
Brunello di Montalcino 2016 is a Tuscan red wine produced by Castello Romitorio. This wine is the pride of the winery, and authentically expresses the territory of Montalcino and the ancient tradition of cultivating Sangiovese.
The grapes are harvested and selected by hand, then fermentation takes place in steel tanks, with a short initial period of cold maceration (below 20°C) with the skins for about 15-20 hours, followed by a higher temperature controlled maceration that can last up to 20 days. After natural malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in oak barrels for about 24 months and after bottling is aged in the Castello Romitorio cellars for a further 12 months or so before release.
This Brunello has a broad nose of ripe red fruit, violets, sage, spices and earthy aromas. In the mouth it is elegant and structured with fine but firm tannins and a very long persistence.
