Brunello di Montalcino 2016 Poggio di Sotto
Brunello di Montalcino 2016 is a fine Tuscan wine produced by Poggio di Sotto. It is an authentic version of Sangiovese, Tuscany's main grape variety, processed according to organic farming principles. The grapes come from the area of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, in the province of Siena, from vineyards located at an altitude ranging from 200 to 450 metres above sea level.
This wine expresses in an authentic way all the character of Sangiovese, because it is produced according to traditional principles very respectful of the territory and the grapes, which are selected with extreme care in the vineyard, while the fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts in wooden vats with a very long maceration with the skins.
Refinement takes place in large oak casks for about 48 months, followed by a further refinement in the bottle for at least 8 months. The Poggio di Sotto Brunello shows a beautiful bright ruby red colour. The nose expresses complex hints of ripe dark fruit and jam, tobacco, earth and vegetable notes, against a background of spices. The taste is structured with evident tannins, fresh and savoury but balanced by a nice softness. Long and persistent, it is a great Tuscan wine destined for a long life.
