Champagne Cristal 1985 Louis Roederer
Cristal is without doubt one of the most famous champagnes in the world and the 2008 cuvée does justice to its name and fame.
The Cristal cuvée is only vinified in great vintages, when the ripeness of the grapes is perfect and every piece of the puzzle of a vintage, rain, sun and wind, is set in the right place, the 2008 was a continental vintage, charged and powerful even though the strangely cool temperatures of summer gave this vintage an intense and saline freshness.
The Cristal 1985 is a blend of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir, with a dosage of 8 g/l and was aged in bottle for 10 years before disgorging and a rest period of another 8 months in bottle.
In the glass the champagne has an amber color with green and orange reflections, with a fine and regular perlage, to the nose the Cristal 1985 gives an intense and very complex bouquet ranging from citrus fruits to yellow fruits, from pear to roasted almond.
In the mouth it is an explosion, powerful and sweet, fresh and pure, with a bewitching salty finish.
The Cristal 1985 is a fantastic Champagne, complete and immense, already tasteable now but with a few years of bottle could become heavenly.
