Enchanteresse Pineau D'Aunis 2016 Guettier
Enchanteresse Pineau D'Aunis 2016 is a natural wine from the Loire Valley produced by Guettier. This "enchanting" wine is made from pure Pinot D'Aunis grapes from very old vines 110 years old, growing on clay soils mixed with siliceous base stones, above the parent rock consisting of limestone; biodynamic farming principles are followed both in the vineyard and in the winery, with limited use of copper and sulfur and no addition of sulfites at bottling. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and vinified in steel vats, followed by a long aging on the fine lees in old barriques, which ranges from two to five years depending on the wine, and then the final racking before bottling. The wine shows a beautiful ruby red color, slightly cloudy, while the nose offers fruity aromas of wild strawberry and black currant, which evolve into floral sensations of dog rose, delicate spices and on the finish a mixed note of chinotto and rhubarb. The taste is elegant but rich at the same time, full of character and ample with fruity hints and a hint of rhubarb in evidence. Very fine and silky tannins with a stimulating savory note on a decidedly long finish.
