The Loire Valley is one of the most interesting wine-growing regions of France, famous mainly for its whites and, as far as reds are concerned, for Cabernet Franc.
One of the oenological peculiarities worthy of note is the famous Muscadet, a typical wine of the Loire with a particular gastronomic affinity with crustaceans and deriving from the vinification of the Melon de Bourgogne vine which, in the Loire, is precisely called Muscadet.
The climate in the Loire Valley is quite cool and for both temperature and latitude it is almost at the limit for the survival of the vine.
This means that the amount of sugar in the grape is particularly low and the wines that are obtained are light and low alcohol, even if characterized by high acidity.
The use of barrique for the aging of wines makes them robust and with evident toasting notes, characteristics very different from those that can be considered the classic styles of the region.
