DE SOUSA
De Sousa fine Champagne
The De Sousa company is a small Champagne company very appreciated by Champagne enthusiasts, for the quality of the work and corporate philosophy of Erik De Sousa, at the reins of the third generation of winemakers since 1986, a supporter of the principles of natural agriculture, through which the company underwent the conversion to organic in 2000.
The vineyards are spread over various plots located in the Grand Cru municipalities of Avize, Oger, Cramant, Le Mesnil sur Oger, in the Blanc de Blancs area, and on Aÿ and Ambonnay as regards instead the pinot noir. In the work in the vineyard Erik uses horses instead of the tractor, to allow a more delicate intervention of the soils, while in the cellar the fermentation is spontaneous without added yeasts and takes place partly in steel and partly in barrique, which is used for the cuvèe obtained from vineyards older than 50 years.
The oldest company vineyards are even seventy years old, with deep roots to be able to take more mineral salts from the soil that give aromatic kits and great elegance to the bottles.
The Champagne of De Sousa are unique products with an inimitable class and quality.
