JOSEPH VOILLOT
La Borgogna di Joseph Voillot
The historical Domaine Joseph Voillot was established at the end of the nineteenth century, and since 1995 it is managed by Jean-Pierre Charlot, former courtier and professor of enology at the Lycée Viticole of Beaune and son-in-law of Joseph Voillot. The estate has about 10 hectares of vineyards located in the communes of Volnay, Pommard, Meursault and Beaune, undisputed homeland of Pinot Noir.
Jean-Pierre is a talented and sensitive winemaker who married the idea of producing wines in an essential way, pure and without frills. For him it is more important to talk about Burgundy than to enhance his winery, and he starts from the concept that wine is made to be drunk, in family or with friends.
He mainly intervenes in the vineyard with the goal of reaching the highest quality of grapes, because as Jean-Pierre says "once in the cellar, it is all over". His wines express a classic style, endowed with a particular aromatic profile which fully expresses the terroir of origin. Intensely fruity wines with a fresh and tannic taste, structured but lively and elegant at the same time and suited for a long aging.
