Challenge beetwen Gevrey-Chambertin 2018 Tasting Box
Gevrey-Chambertin is the Burgundy village located at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, at the edge of the perfect Pinot Noir ripening zone. It gives life to wines having an imposing structural profile, usually characterized by a great minerality and a nice spiciness.
In this tasting box we compare two great Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru of two excellent Domaine: Bruno Clair and Thierry Mortet.
WHAT IT CONTAINS:
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetiers" 2018 Bruno Clair: The grapes come from the 1er cru Les Cazetiers vineyard, which is located next to the famous Clos Saint-Jacque, from a plot of less than one hectare planted in three different years. It has an intense ruby red color; an ample and enveloping nose of red fruits, mineral salts, spices and aromatic herbs; in the mouth it is very elegant and well structured, with refreshing notes of citrus fruits and touches of vanilla, quite fresh and sapid but also smooth, with a silky tannic texture. Les Cazetiers is a truly interesting wine: very elegant and rich, a Pinot Noir which, as opposed to many other Gevrey-Chambertin, is capable of expressing itself at its best even when young.
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos Prieur" 2018 Thierry Mortet: Obtained from Pinot Noir grapes coming from the 1er Cru Prieur vineyard, within the Gevrey Chambertin appellation. It is characterized by great elegance and quality, and is the result of a combination of factors such as the excellence of the terroir of origin and climate and attention to the environment, in fact, the production phases follow biodynamic methodologies. Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Pieur 2018 by Mortet has a brilliant ruby red color, while the nose expresses a refined bouquet of flowers, red fruits and wood. In the mouth, it is persuasive, rich and elegant, with silky tannins and beautiful persistence.
