Valpolicella Superiore 2018 Il Monte Caro
Valpolicella 2018 is a natural wine from the Veneto region produced by Il Monte Caro winery. It is a wine made from the classic grape varieties of Valpolicella: corvina, corvinone and rondinella, harvested by hand in boxes when slightly overripe. The grapes come from a very particular area where the vineyards are arranged in an amphitheatre facing south called Valle di Mezzane, on a predominantly calcareous soil and from vineyards which are about 25 years old. Valpolicella Superiore di Monte caro differs from Valpolicella because of the aging process which must be of at least one year, and it is more alcoholic and smooth and less acid than this one. Intense ruby red in color, it expresses on the nose hints of ripe fruit such as cherries and blackberries, flowers such as violets and roses, for a full bodied, soft and enveloping sip but balanced by a certain amount of freshness.
