Brezeme Vieille Serine 2014 Eric Texier
Brezeme Vieille Serine 2014 is a natural wine produced by Eric Texier. Texier, who is now a reference point among the wine makers of Northern Rhône Valley, has a production philosophy based on the respect of the territory, that is why he decided to focus on autochthonous grapes and in this case on Serine, a very old variety of Syrah now forgotten and rediscovered by Texier himself.
This wine is therefore produced with 100% Syrah grapes, locally called Serine, from 65 years old vineyards cultivated in Brézème in a very particular terroir made of calcareous marls, one of the very few calcareous terroirs of the northern part of Rhône Valley. These characteristics make the wine wild and mineral. The domain is based on tradition: the maturity of the grapes is tested manually, tasting the berries so that each plot is harvested only in its optimal condition.
Harvesting is done manually, fermentations are natural without adding yeasts, malolactic fermentation is done naturally and the result of all this manual and naturalness is a grape juice, a natural wine which expresses in itself nothing more than what it really is. The 2014 Brezeme Vieille Serine ages for 30 months in 10-year-old demi-muids.
