Côte Rôtie 2016 Eric Texier
The 2016 Côte Rôtie is a natural wine produced in the Northern Rhône Valley by Erix Texier. It is made from 100% Syrah grapes from 80 year old vines in the Côte Rôtie, on mixed shale and gneiss soils. Eric Texier is a careful and visionary winemaker, a reference in the Northern Rhône Valley for having revalued the extinct regions of Brézème and Saint Julien en Saint Alban. Bond with tradition, experimentation and natural viticulture are the basis of his production philosophy. This 2016 Côte Rôtie is a rich and velvety red that recalls the elegance of Burgundy Pinot Noirs: the nose expresses aromas of cassis and violets along with black cherries, coffee and mint. Savory and quite persistent on the palate, it has great aging potential, from 10 to 20 years.
