Chassagne Montrachet Les Mazures 2018 Paul Pillot
Chassagne Montrachet Les Mazures 2018 is a fine French Burgundy wine produced by Paul Pillot. It is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from an exceptional lieu-dit, directly under 1er Cru Champs Gains with an excellent south-eastern exposure and soil composed of clay and limestone. The grapes, from vineyards over 25 years old, are grown according to organic farming principles, then the must ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and is aged in 350L barrels (10% new) for 12 months with a further 6 months in tank. The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures offers notes of pear, white flowers and almond paste. Medium to full bodied while possessing good depth on the well refined and persistent finish. Like the straight Chassagne villages, this one is not particularly dense, but I like the poise and overall balance.
