"The Beauty of Chassagne Montrachet" Tasting Box
A journey through one of the most important villages in "white" Burgundy with three great interpreters of this terroir. Accompanied by Jean Philippe Fichet, Bernard Moreau and Sylvain Morey we discover the beauty of Chassagne Montrachet.
WHAT IT CONTAINS:
Chassagne Montrachet 2017 Fichet: made from Chardonnay grapes and is under the prestigious appellation Chassagne Montrachet, famous worldwide for its characteristic sensory profile, strongly identifying the commune that gives it its name, located between the towns of Santenay and Puligny Montrachet, which differs from these communes due to the presence of very deep clays that give richness to the wines, along with a great finesse conferred by the presence of a particular type of pink limestone of Premeaux . This Chassagne Monrachet of Fichet is characterised by balsamic aromas of resin, white fruit, petrol and wood that introduce a complex and rich nose. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied and persistent.
Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "En Caillerets" 2017 Sylvain Morey: made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the 1er Cru vineyard of the same name. This wine, according to Sylvain Morey himself, is one of the most prestigious bottles in the entire range of the Domaine, a wine that every year is able to express great power, elegance and minerality. The Chassagne-Montrachet Cru En Caillerets 2017 shows a beautiful bright golden yellow colour in the glass. The first nose expresses nuances of lemon, lemongrass and lime, complemented by notes of fruit and Mediterranean herbs. The sip is rich and full-bodied but balanced by a lovely freshness. Finally, this great Burgundy white is striking for its lovely length, with a finish of citric notes that we had sensed on the nose.
Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Maltroie" 2016 Bernard Moreau: made from Chardonnay grapes from the 1er Cru Maltroie vineyard, located in the centre of the commune of Chassagne Montrachet, with soils that give wines of great structure and minerality. This fine wine Chassagne Montrachet Maltroie 2016 presents a classic profile of the terroir of origin endowed with great elegance: bright straw yellow in colour, the nose expresses a generous bouquet of white fruits such as apple and pear, then veers towards mineral tones, of wet stone, with delicate floral and vanilla touches of wood. The palate is deep, dense, fresh and balanced, with a very long, savoury finish. This is a fine Burgundy Chardonnay that takes a few years to express its full potential.
