Wine Tasting Box "The Sancerre of François Cotat"
A tasting box created to enter the fascinating world of François Cotat: producer of the Loire region, undisputed master of Sancerre appellation. In this wine tasting box we find three of his most important crus: "Les Cailottes", "La Grand Côte" and "Les Culs de Beaujeu".
WHAT IT CONTAINS:
Sancerre "Les Cailottes" 2017: It is produced from young vines planted on calcareous soils with a very fine soil made of stones, flint and pebbles, the harvest of this wine from Loire Valley is often late, not in order to add sugar residuals to the wines, but just to give them a certain softness, a tender side which results in a greater smoothness in the mouth. On the nose, this Sancerre "Les Cailottes" reveals sensual fragrances of white flowers that envelop the bitter taste of grapefruit, while the greedy buttery notes respond to the freshness of lime blossoms and honeysuckle for a deliciously balanced bouquet. The full, sinewy palate reveals great finesse, savory harmony and complexity. The finish shows generous length with flint notes, particularly gritty and salivating!
Sancerre "La Grand Côte" 2018: This is made from pure Sauvignon blanc from 60-year-old vines on a very steep slope, where the soil is rich in clay and gives this wine a more buttery texture, despite the classic Sancerre aromatic profile, with pleasant and delicate fruity and floral notes. The wine shows a luminous straw yellow color, while the nose expresses a subtle bouquet of green apple, white flowers, mineral salts. The sip is very fresh and persistent, with floral hints.
Sancerre "Les Culs de Beaujeu" 2016: it comes from one of the most important terroirs of Sancerre, rich in kimmeridian marls, it is a wine obtained from a manual harvest and a natural vinification, like the other natural wines without sulfites, it is neither filtered nor clarified. This Loire wine shows a beautiful golden yellow color whose brightness and intensity are truly enchanting. The nose is pleasant, it releases through beautiful aromas of citrus fruits of which one can feel the shyness. With a good aeration in my glass, I discover the marriage of exotic fruit notes, white flowers aromas with some honeyed connotations, giving me at the same time a greedy and opulent pleasure. The palate is on two tones, the first is the precision and verticality of this wine that I characterize by a flint sensation, while the second is in a feeling of increasing volume. The wine is a real fruit delight, both juicy and meaty, with superb balance and powerful structure that carries the wine to a long, elegant and very fine finish.
