Lumiere de Silex 2018 Jean-Pierre Robinot
The 2018 Lumiere de Silex is a French natural wine from the Loire Valley, produced by Jean-Pierre Robinot. It is an example of Chenin Blanc, a white grape variety typical of the Loire Valley, interpreted in the style of the visionary and non-conformist vigneron Jean-Pierre Robinot. Chenin Blanc is the white grape of the "long river", which loves freshness and ocean, with a very aromatic profile, introverted and slightly aromatic, difficult to interpret when young and with a great aging potential. The grapes come from 40-50 year old vines that grow on a predominantly calcareous soil and are processed according to biodynamic farming methods. This wine is a forthright and elegant white wine which ages in old wooden barrels for 20 months followed by a period of aging in bottle. To the freshness and minerality typical of the vine is added a complexity and creaminess due to the long aging. In the glass it shows a warm straw yellow color, with golden hues, and gives a bouquet of flowers and citrus fruits, as well as aromas of zenith, honey and cereals with light oxidized notes. A unique wine, very particular, almost a "meditation" white wine.
