Masseto 2006 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia
Masseto 2006 is a fine Tuscan wine produced by the Tenute dell'Ornellaia company. Produced with 100% Merlot grapes that are processed with extreme care at each stage: starting with manual harvesting, where some grapes are harvested before others only when they reach the right state of ripeness. The whole process is entrusted to expert hands who with passion and skill make the right choices, to obtain a wine that places itself at the top of Italian wine excellence.
The fermentation of Masseto 2006 took place in wooden vats at an average temperature between 27 ° and 30 ° followed by a maceration lasting for 21-33 days. Subsequently, the wine was decanted into new oak barrels for a total period of 24 months at controlled temperature with an assembly after the first 12 months and then transferred to the barriques for the remaining 12. Finally, before being released onto the market, the Masseto 2006 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia has finalized its aging in another 12 months in bottle.
Wine with a deep garnet red color, with a complex aromatic profile: wild fruit in alcohol such as blueberry and blackberries, spices such as vanilla and black pepper and herbaceous notes, tobacco, white truffle. Well integrated into the mouth, with a thick and robust sip, silky tannins and fresh finish. Very long persistence.
