Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore 2011 Luciano Sandrone
Luciano Sandrone's Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is a beautiful expression of the Piedmontese grape variety par excellence, Nebbiolo, whose varietal characteristics it best describes. It is a bottle of great prestige, matured in wood for a long time before being put on the market.
Nebbiolo Valmaggiore di Sandrone comes from the vineyards of Vezza d'Alba in the Roero, it is here that the Valmaggiore vineyard stands, a splendid natural amphitheatre in the heart of the Tanaro river, always exposed to the sun and renowned for the high quality of its fruit. The mild climate and sandy soils give Nebbiolo an aristocratic finesse, unlike the Nebbiolo of the Langhe, that of Roero is more refined and delicate, pleasant since its youth.
Nebbiolo Valmaggiore Sandrone is obtained by spontaneous fermentation in steel with indigenous yeasts and a maturation of 9 months in French oak tonneaux before another 9 months in bottle. The glass has an intense garnet red colour, the nose develops hints of small red fruits, liquorice and delicate spices. In the mouth it is a full-bodied wine with a flowing drink and complex aromas, the tannins are fine and delicate. The finish is fresh and of good length.
