O Rayo de Vella Tinto 2017 Rodrigo Mendez
O Rayo de Vella Tinto 2017 is a Spanish red wine produced by Rodrigo Mendez. It is made from the indigenous Caíño and Espadeiro varieties from a single parcel located at sea level, and represents the style of Rodrigo Mendez who decided to put on this intimate and personal project under his own name.
The grapes are harvested by hand and then the must ferments spontaneously using indigenous yeasts. A very limited number of these bottles are produced, around 1200, a small production that identifies Mendez's quest for the highest quality. Fermentation takes place in open casks and maturation in used oak barrels for about a year.
O Rayo de Vella Tinto 2017 is a wine with an intense ruby red colour, with a predominantly fruity nose expressing aromas of red and black fruit, floral and mineral hints along with balsamic touches. A red wine with an Atlantic character, with a beautiful freshness and great drinkability.

WINE-MAKING: Fermentation in open wooden vats and ageing for about 12 months in used oak barrels.
