Ribeira Sacra "Lalama" 2015 Dominio do Bibei
Dominio do Bibei's Lalama is a Spanish red wine from Ribeira Sacra that encapsulates the magic of its terroir, steep hills overlooking the nearby Atlantic Ocean that give the wine a mineral and fresh character.
The vineyards from which the grapes are grown - Mencia, Brancellao, Mouratón, Sousón and Garnacha tintorera - are all between 16 and 100 years old. The grapes are harvested strictly by hand and the bunches are selected one by one so that only the best are made into wine. The individual varieties are fermented separately in open vats and closed casks, maceration lasts between 2 and 3 weeks depending on the type of grape. After malolactic fermentation the wine is aged for 13 months in oak casks, 7 months in French oak trunks and a further 16 months in bottles.
The Ribeira Sacra "Lalama" is bright ruby red in colour in the glass, with a bouquet of red fruits such as currants, raspberries and cherries on the nose, accompanied by floral and vegetal notes as well as a strong mineral and citrus component, closing with hints of coffee beans. In the mouth, it is agile and mouth-watering with a nice acidic streak and an Atlantic freshness that takes us back to Galicia with the ocean in front of our eyes.
