Balado Albarino 2014 Bodega Zarate
Balado Albarino 2014 is a Spanish white wine produced by Bodega Zarate. The grapes come from two 60-year-old vineyard plots facing south on shallow soil. "Balado" in Galician literally means "near a wall of Granite", and it is this characteristic that gives particular minerality to this wine, which is a faithful expression of the terroir of this area of Galicia.
The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selected in the vineyard and fermented spontaneously in steel tanks where the wine is left to rest for about 3 months, after which it is racked and aged for a further 6 months cold on the fine lees. This long period of rest on the lees makes it rich and creamy, intense and complex with a great predisposition to ageing of 5-10 years.
Zarate's Baladto Albarino has a beautiful, luminous straw yellow colour in the glass, with an intense and complex nose of white flowers, citrus fruits and mineral salts, and a rich, creamy yet fresh and very persistent palate.
