Sancerre "Les Chasseignes" 2018 Claude Riffault
Sancerre Les Chasseignes 2018 is a fine wine from the French region of Loire, France, produced by Claude Riffault. Les Chasseignes is the name of lieu-dit frequent in the Sancerre and identifies the parcels installed on the famous "cailottes", hills whose soil and subsoil have calcareous origin.
This cuvée comes from old vineyards that are located north of the Village of Sury-en-Vaux at a height of 270 meters and excellent east and south east exposure to favor the maturation of the Sauvignons and the expansion of aromas. The nose is immediately projected towards a purely floral register, as the producer describes: "it seems to be in a garden in the early hours of a spring day." A bouquet of wild roses together with vegetal hints and a balsamic touch of eucalyptus, followed by the scent of pine resin and a nice handful of mineral aromas, fully envelop the nose.
In the mouth a quantity of citrus fruits such as orange, grapefruit, lemon and mandarin refresh the palate, followed by fruits such as pear and apple. Claude Riffault's Sancerre Les Chasseignes 2018 is a dense, dynamic wine, where on the finish the freshness of the citrus and supported by minerality. An excellent year for a bottle destined to give its best after a few years of storage in the cellar.
