Sancerre "Monoparcelle 538" 2018 Claude Riffault
Sancerre Monoparcelle 538 2018 is a fine wine produced in the French region of Loire by Claude Riffault. In particular, this wine is made from a single half-hectare vineyard 50 years old located in the town of Desmalets, in an area of 260 meters on a soil composed of a thin layer (30 cm) of white marl that rest on a subsoil of marine and fossil sediments.
This particular terroir, combined with a careful and meticulous viticulture that has gone from organic to biodynamic methodology, lays the foundations for the identity of this wine where the salt pans and the freshness constitute its most characteristic element. The nose if, after being satisfied with a thick mineral complex, suggests the presence of the rock in the subsoil, followed by citrus and vegetal hints of white champignons, a balsamic note of eucalyptus and a delicate honey finish. The fruit is no exception, clearly recognizable by pear Williams. The taste in the mouth is superb, the freshness is balanced by an almost buttery morbid note. Smoked aromas close the bouquet giving the wine a particular, mysterious touch.
Also for this Sancerre Monoparcelle 530 2018, Riffault has chosen to extend aging to 15, together with the splendid 2018 vintage. The result is a wine of elegant density and a remarkable predisposition in aging, it is interesting to keep it for 2- 3 years in the cellar before drinking it.
