Villa de Corullon 2014 Descendientes de J. Palacios
Villa de Corullon is a Spanish red wine produced by Álvaro Palacios and Ricardo Pérez, who cultivate 36 hectares of Mencía vines on their property. All the vineyards are located in the village of Corullón and are spread over more than 200 small plots. The soils of these vineyards have a Palaeozoic substratum containing slate and isolated quartz. The vines are between 50 and 90 years old. Their dark, narrow grapes are zealously selected to produce Villa de Corullón, an open, extroverted wine that brings together and harmonises different heights, aromas and light. Unique influences that only coincide in the complexity of the valleys in this municipality. This wine from Bodegas Descendientes de J. Palacios was aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels.
Villa de Corullon has a very intense ruby red colour in the glass, with fruity aromas of cherry and small berries on the nose as well as tertiary hints of smoke, leather and tobacco. In the mouth it is balsamic and mineral, round with a nice tannic texture and a savoury finish.
