Pétalos del Bierzo 2018 Descendientes de J. Palacios
Pétalos del Bierzo 2018 is a Bierzo red wine produced by Descendientes de J. Palacios winery. It is made mainly from Mencia grapes from old vineyards between 40 and 90 years old that grow on soils consisting mainly of slate and are located on steep slopes.
The vineyards are cultivated by Ricardo and Álvaro using biodynamic methods, their philosophy "combines the organic and the immaterial in a permanent search for definition and purity: a process in which the soil and the plant, the work of men and the effort of animals are united" this allows them to obtain fresh, fragrant, juicy and lively wines, a reflection of the terroir of the Bierzo hills. Spontaneous fermentation takes place for two months in closed tanks, while the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.
Pétalos del Bierzo 2018 has a deep ruby red colour, the nose is fruity with aromas of black cherry, floral with hints of violet petals and carnation, and smoky notes. The taste is lively and refreshing, with intense notes of black cherries and olives and a silky but present tannic texture, long finish.
