Pinot Noir "Show of Hands" 2018 Fincher & Co
The 2018 Pinot Noir "Show of Hands" is a New Zealand wine produced by Fincher & Co. Behind this winery is the work of Liam Steevenson, Master of wine and experienced winemaker Ben Glover.
The Pinot Noir grapes come from a single vineyard in Central Otago from 3 clones, one of which is specially harvested early to prevent over-ripening. Spontaneous fermentation takes place with 30% whole cluster in open tanks. The wine then matures for 12 months in French oak barrels giving it structure and complexity with the enrichment of spices.
The 2018 Pinot Noir "Show of Hands" is a vibrant and complex wine of intense fruity aromas typical of New Zealand, together with spice given by the French oak. It has a bouquet of rose petals, ripe cherry and cedar, along with spice while the sip delivers hints of crunchy red fruit, wild thyme and earth. Velvety but with good tannin and freshness, it has a nice length.
