Mouzon Leroux, fine biodynamich ChampagneDomaine Mouzon Leroux is located in Verzy, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, and is a historic family-owned Champagne estate that was established back in 1776. Verzy is a village classified as a Grand Cru, where however it is difficult to find quality productions because most of the small producers sell their grapes to the big maisons that dominate the area.
Domaine Mouzon Leroux is an exception, with its 7.5 hectares of vineyards where, in addition to the classic pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay, rarer varieties such as arbanne, petit meslier, pinot gris and pinot blanc are grown. In the vineyard, biodynamic farming principles are followed, based on absolute respect for the land, so much so that horses are used to plough the land and make the soil softer and less compact.
In the cellar, the same sustainable philosophy applies, with spontaneous fermentation using only indigenous yeasts, while the wines mature either in wood or steel depending on the type. Domaine Mouzon Leroux produces around 60,000 bottles a year, intense, authentic and expressive Champagnes that express the terroir of origin in a pure and sublime way.
