Taurasi Radici Riserva 2011 Mastroberardino
The Taurasi Riserva "Radici" 2011 is a wine from Campania produced by Mastroberardino. It is a powerful and expressive red wine, the fruit of an exceptional terroir such as that of Irpinia, where the composition of the soil, the considerable temperature range and the influence of sea breezes can give rise to wines with extraordinary elegance and power, intense aromaticity and longevity.
Like this Taurasi Radici Riserva, made from 100% Aglianico grapes, the region's most important grape variety, which risked extinction during difficult times for Campania's viticulture, but which the Mastroberardino family decided to recover and preserve, and which today gives life to one of the most powerful and long-lived expressions of southern Italy. After fermentation with slow maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature, the wine matures for 30 months in barriques and large oak casks.
Mastroberardino's Taurasi Riserva 2011 expresses an intense garnet red colour. The nose offers intense aromas of berries, cherries, hints of dried flowers, oriental spices and noble woods. The taste is deep, long, with lively tannins and a centre of the mouth of good complexity. The finish is fresh and savoury, with a return to spicy sensations.
