Auxey Duresses "La Ruchotte" 2016 Pierre Yves Colin Morey
Auxey Duresses "La Ruchotte" 2016 Pierre Yves Colin Morey Attractive bouquet with aromas of crisp stone fruit, yellow peach and a little lemon cream, as well as scents of white flowers, underpinned by a subtle toasted nut. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, harmonious and balanced with a hint of spice on the finish. If you are looking for a reference for great white Burgundy, look no further than one of the most outstanding up-and-comers - Pierre Yves Colin-Morey. After ten years as cellar master at Domaine Marc Colin in Saint Aubin, he went out on his own after the 2005 harvest and founded his domaine with a quarter of the vineyards of his parents' house as an early legacy. Already with his first harvest in 2006, the talented winemaker set new standards: less emphasis on aroma and fruit, but more character and intensity, more emphasis on terroir and precise minerality, more depth and length. Step by step, he has acquired more first-class vineyards. Not only does he continue to work with his brothers on his parents' estate, but since 2001 he has also been working as a négotiant with his wife Caroline Morey, daughter of Jean-Marc Morey. Thanks to their good name and reputation, they buy very small quantities of wine from friendly winegrowers and turn them themselves into high-class wines according to their own ideas - guided by a lot of intuition and little intervention. And from 2009 onwards, the gradual conversion to organic vineyard management followed. Pierre-Yves and Caroline are distinguished - and increasingly so - by great wines full of richness, tension and elegance.
