Barolo Margheria 2011 Massolino
Barolo Margheria 2011 is a fine Piedmontese wine produced by the Massolino winery. The grapes come from A Margheria, a historic cru with particular pedoclimatic characteristics, in one of the most evocative positions in Serralunga d'Alba, giving rise to one of the estate's most important bottles. The Margheria vineyard, of about one and a half hectares, is located at an altitude of 340 metres above sea level, exposed to the sun and protected from the cold north-west winds by the Castelletto hill, with a microclimate particularly suited to the development of vines. The vines stand on calcareous soil with a good percentage of sand, which gives the wines great minerality and finesse. Massolino's Barolo Margheria has a style typical of the terroir of Serralunga d'Alba: ruby red in colour with garnet highlights, it expresses an intense nose of spicy, fruity aromas of cherry, liquorice and undergrowth, and floral notes of rose on the finish. The taste is rich, harmonious and well structured with a persistent finish.
