Blanc 2015 Domaine Leon Barral
Blanc 2015 is a French natural white wine from Languedoc-Roussilon produced by Domaine Leon Barral. It is made from grapes from old vines over 80 years old that produce a few bunches of great concentration and aromatic intensity, in particular it is a blend of white grape varieties typical of the region: Terret Blanc, Terret Gris and Viognier.
The grapes are grown according to biodynamic farming principles, with full respect for the environment: in fact, the 25 hectares of the estate are immersed in an ecosystem of great biodiversity and are cultivated only with natural fertilisers. Fermentation takes place in cement vats with indigenous yeasts and a short maceration on the skins, after which the wine matures for 12 months on its fine lees in barriques, some new and some used, and undergoes malolactic fermentation, which increases the power and aromatic intensity of this white wine.
The 2019 Blanc from Domaine Leon Barral expresses a slightly cloudy golden yellow colour to the eye, due to the fact that it is bottled naturally without any clarification or filtration. The nose is intense and territorial with aromas of yellow fruit, peach, apricot, pineapple, notes of ginger, herbs and honey, hints of dried and roasted fruit. The palate is rich and deep, balanced by a lovely freshness and a mineral and savoury finish.
