Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Ruchottes" 2016 Ramonet
The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Ruchottes is a true classic, only a few producers use this vineyard, and certainly Ramonet's Ruchottes are exceptional, often competing with neighbouring Grands Crus. It is located to the east of "La Grande Montagne" or the nearby hill, and owes its name to the loose rocks or "Ruchottes" that have accumulated from the hillside over time. It was the Domaine's first purchase in 1930 and contains some of the oldest vines in Ramonet's estate. Thanks to continuous replanting, this "Ruchottes" is of the highest quality, with an opulent structure and a perfumed character that opens in the glass with notes of mint, apple, pear and subtle noisette, cleverly framed by a touch of reduction and new oak. On the palate, the wine approaches the concentration and depth of the Grand Cru, with a velvety texture, lovely controlled breadth and exceptional definition and length. As this really begins to realise its full potential.
