Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2017 Thomas Morey
Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2017 is a fine Burgundy wine produced by Domaine Thomas Morey. The Chardonnay grapes that make up this wine come from the 1er cru Morgeot vineyard, which at 58 hectares in total, is the largest Premier Cru on the coast and brings together two localities - Brussonnes and Fairendes.
Planted in 1986, the Brussonnes plot is a recent acquisition while half of the Fairendes vineyard was planted in 1964 and half in 1974, already owned by the family since his grandfather's time. The vineyards at Le Brussonnes are slightly sloping on shallow soils with small pebbles resting on the rock, while the vines in the Fairendes area are on deeper soils with the presence of rocks. The stony red soils are shallow at the beginning, gaining more depth towards the foot of the mountain where they are then white, heavy, compact and clayey.
Thomas Morey's Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2017 is a faithful representation of the whites of this renowned area: excellent quality, full-bodied, opulent, rich, soft. A wine of marvellous complexity and balance prepared for long ageing to reach its full capacity (about 5-7 years).
